Located in a seaside village near Kalamata, this residential project explores the relationship between Mediterranean landscape, local materials, and contemporary living. The house is conceived as a sequence of solid and void spaces, where architecture frames nature rather than competing with it.

The house is gently placed within an existing olive tree field, allowing the natural landscape to remain the dominant element of the site. Rather than clearing or redefining the terrain, the architectural approach respects the rhythm and density of the olive grove, treating it as an integral part of the project. Mature olive trees frame views, filter light, and establish a quiet dialogue between built form and nature, reinforcing the feeling of living within the landscape rather than on top of it.

At the heart of the composition lies an internal courtyard, organized around an existing olive tree. Stone walls, carefully preserved and reintroduced, define the boundaries of the space, creating a protected microclimate and a strong sense of intimacy. The courtyard becomes the focal point of daily life, visually and spatially connecting all main living areas.

Large sliding glass openings dissolve the threshold between interior and exterior, allowing light, vegetation, and sea air to penetrate deep into the house. This indoor–outdoor continuity enhances natural ventilation and reinforces the feeling of living close to the landscape - an essential quality for coastal living in the Peloponnese.

Materiality plays a central role in the architectural narrative. Local stone masonry, neutral plastered surfaces, and soft flooring tones were selected to reflect the colors and textures of the surrounding environment. Artificial lighting is used discreetly, washing the stone surfaces and emphasizing their depth and tactility during evening hours.

The project represents a contemporary interpretation of seaside residential architecture in southern Greece, where tradition, climate responsiveness, and modern comfort coexist. Designed to age gracefully, the house embraces a timeless architectural language rooted in place, light, and material honesty.
